Year 2
Welcome to Year 2.
Your class teacher this year is Miss Zaman.
Your teaching assistants and supportive team include Mrs Barteneva, Miss Larkin, Mrs Connelly, Mrs Piper-Blunt and Mrs Wichiciel-Rajhi.
We have lots of practical learning to look forward to and the year 2 team work hard to bring the learning alive.
On this page, you will find out about what your child will be learning this term so you can support them at home.
If you have any questions or queries about your child’s learning, please do speak with Miss Zaman at the end of the day who will be happy to provide any support and guidance needed
Ways You Can Support Your Child At Home:
- Read with them on a nightly basis using books provided by the school. Books match children’s current phonics level so that they are accessible and support children to practise their segmenting and blending skills.
- Teach your children how to look after and respect books.
- Encourage your child to read other material apart from books, for example, signs, recipes or children’s magazines.
- Continue to support your child with all independent skills such as using a knife and fork correctly, getting dressed, tying shoelaces and securing buttons.
- Help your child’s number skills by practicing counting items in your home such as blocks, steps, cubes, toys, pasta, buttons or coins.
The children will be learning new knowledge in each subject and will be working very hard. If you have any questions or would like to talk to a member of our team, please get in touch, and we will be happy to arrange a suitable time to speak with you.
