The Governing Body of Lime Walk Primary School

Sarah Carmichael - Co chair of Governors

I joined the governing board as a parent governor in January 2019 and later that year was elected Co-Chair.

I grew up in Hemel Hempstead and attended both primary and secondary schools within the area.

For the past 17 years i have worked in the finance industry, primarily in Pension Administration.

I am also an active volunteer for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Sue Thorpe - Co chair of Governors

I am a partnership governor and Co-Chair of Governors.

I have been associated with Lime Walk School for over thirty years. Initially as a  class teacher, then as SENCO and Deputy Head.

I became a governor, first as a staff governor , then on retirement I became a partnership governor. I have always been interested and keen to foster children's learning whether in my roles in the teaching profession or as a mother and grandmother. I take a particular interest in SEND, safeguarding and English. I continue to enjoy being a part of school life and hope to help in the development of Lime Walk.

Stuart Pilgrim

I was born and raised in Hemel Hempstead attending both primary and secondary schooling in the town. I’m married with two grown up children who each now have two children of their own.

I spent almost my entire working life working with the post office, starting off on the counter in the old post office in the town centre. I then moved into training and development where I delivered numerous training courses. My final 10 years or so in the business prior to retirement were spent as a senior project/implantation manager ensuring that projects were delivered both to timescale and cost, whilst managing large teams and being responsible for there development and well being.

In my spare time I enjoy most sports, watching rather than playing these days and travel. I’ve been very fortunate to travel to many different countries experiencing both the different cultures and ways of life.

Claire Long – Parent Governor

I have been a parent governor since September 2021.

I have two daughters, my eldest is a Year 4 pupil at the school and my youngest will start reception in September. I am very passionate about volunteering my time at the school and enjoy all aspects of the role.

As a parent governor, I am in the position of being able to provide a parental viewpoint as well as having direct experience of how the curriculum is delivered and perceived. As a governor my aim is to work together as a team with the other governors to ensure we get the best possible outcomes for the students. I am the link governor for both PE and art.

Outside of my governor role, I am an advertising and marketing director for a local law firm, and I enjoy spending my free time keeping fit and spending quality time with my family.

Vicky Hewitt - Associate Governor

I have worked at Lime Walk Primary School since 2008 and have had various roles in that time.

I have been Deputy Headteacher since 2012 and have been lucky enough to teach in all year groups across the school.  I am currently responsible for Early Years, Pupil Premium expenditure and overseeing the curriculum - roles within which I take great pride in making a difference for our pupils from the very start of their journey with us until they head off on their future adventures.

I have two young children of my own, the eldest of whom has just started reception, so I feel I have a new perspective on the importance of working together for the best outcomes for our children.

Mohammed-Awais Ahmed - Parent Governor

I am a parent governor whose children have attended the school since September 2015.

I possess an LLB Law degree as well as a Postgraduate Masters in Legal Practice and am employed as a Civil Servant and works for the Home Office in Central Government.

I am a keen sports coach and manage a local grassroots football and Cricket team.

Andrew Kerse - Headteacher

I have been headteacher at Lime Walk Primary School since September 2020 and have over 30 years of experience working with governors at school.  Throughout my career I have always worked in Hertfordshire and have extensive knowledge of working in Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding area.  I have been a governor in 7 schools throughout the county and have chaired a number of committees, working parties and governor training groups over my 25 years as a school governor.

I have two children who have moved through the education system and am married to a teacher who works in another authority.  As my children grew up I volunteered at the local scout group and co-managed one of the sections for five years.  In addition to that I managed a Colts Cricket team at a local club, am presently on the DSSN (Dacorum Schools Sports Network) steering committee and supported my son's football team every weekend by assisting the management.  I have extensive experience of sitting on committees to provide opportunities for young people.
