About the role

We are looking for co-opted governors to join our Governing Body at Lime Walk Primary School. As a governor you will be a volunteer who makes a vital contribution to the success of the school.

For most people, becoming a school governor or trustee for the first time is a step into an unfamiliar environment that can be quite daunting.

As a governor you will be part of a corporate body known as the Governing Board. The role of the governing board is critical to the effectiveness of the school.  You will work with our school's senior leaders to set the culture, values and budgets.

Through monitoring and supportive challenge, you will make a real and noticeable difference to the children, their families and the broader community of Lime Walk Primary School.

Governors make decisions on the strategic direction of the school, set strategic goals and assess the progress being made towards those targets.

Your appointment as a school governor or trustee comes with responsibilities and it’s important to understand what you’re going to be taking on. As a general rule, you will be expected to:

  • Commit to attend meetings
  • Attend training
  • Visits to the school or academy during the day
  • Work as a team

Governors come from every walk of life and there is no requirement for you to have an educational background.  Your skills and work place knowledge have the potential to influence the future of young people.

This role may be particularly of interest if you have skills in finance/accounting, human resources, marketing, or education but we invite applications from anyone who is interested in helping the school be the best it can be. Full training is available, and governors are encouraged to attend regular training sessions, either in person or online.

We are looking for someone who can attend six full governing body meetings per year which are held in the evenings.

If you’re interested in becoming a governor at Lime Walk Primary School please complete the application form below and email it to lea.governors@hfleducation.org .

Visits to the school are welcomed. Please contact Andrew Kerse on 01442 262341 to arrange a vist to meet our team.

Further information will be provided if necessary through the school office.
